Probably the best thing that has ever been on radio is I’m Sorry I Haven’t a Clue, a quiz show of sorts that has been going since 1972. We have enjoyed the show for many years and it has made a long car journey seem much shorter. So when the opportunity arose for us to go and see the show live on stage I jumped at the chance and secured front row seats for all the family.
Normally when you go along you see the recording of a couple of shows that are aired later in the year. This time it was a sort of “greatest hits” that was not for broadcast. Unfortunately this meant that if you had been an avid listener to the show over a number of years you would have heard most of the material before. It was very telling that the funniest bit was when it was a round that could not be scripted. That said it was a nice touch that the whole audience was provided with their own kazoo so that we could all take part in Swanee Kazoo!
The boys thoroughly enjoined it, although I am not sure that they got all the jokes, particularly the ones that involved the escapades of the lovely Samantha…
The best bit though was seeing 86 year old Humphrey Lyttleton play his trumpet at the end of the show – I really hope I have that much puff when I’m his age!
