You may remember that I posted last year about the Proporta USB Mobile Device Charger and how great it was? Well, it became clear after a while that I wasn’t getting anywhere near as many recharges as had been stated in the adverts. For example the last time I used the device it charged my Nokia N73 from 20% to full and gave my iPod Touch a 20% charge before being emptied. The ads suggested that I would be able to recharge a N95 3.6 times – there is no way I would get even two charges of my N73. So I decided to approach Proporta to see if this was normal or there was a problem with my unit.

I sent an email to the support address on December 31st. Somewhat unbelievably I received a response the very next day (a public holiday) saying that it sounded like a fault and could I return it where they would evaluate it and replace if necessary. I have been here before and all this sounded too good to be true but I dutifully packed up the unit – not the cables and box – just the unit itself and sent it off recorded delivery.

I was fully expecting Proporta to say that either a) there was nothing wrong with the device and then I would have a fight on my hands or b) I needed to send back all the cables etc before they would replace. Nope, neither. On 7th January I received an email informing me that my replacement unit had been shipped – no charge and today it arrived. However, it was not just a replacement unit but a full boxed product.

Of course this is how support should be but very rarely is. So three cheers to Proporta and check them out for all your gadgeting needs.
