Nationwide PhishingLike so many people these days I regularly receive email purporting to be from my bank wanting me to log on and re-confirm my details, something that is known as phishing. Sometime these are very well put together and you could genuienly believe that they come from said organisation. That is until your realise that a) the link provided is an IP address or not the URL of the financial institution or b) it’s not your bank. These phishers work on the scatter gun approach in the hope that someone will bite.

Occasionally I have a look just to see what the latest techniques are, which is when I saw the image above (click on it for a larger view). This is supposedly from the Nationwide Building Society again asking me to confirm my details. However, what gives this away as a fake is that it asks me to “SING on” and give away me details. Not once but twice is the mistake repeated. Maybe this is a new security measure? Perhaps the Nationwide captured my signing in the shower and are going to use this to match against my “singing on”…? Or maybe someone just wants to empty my account.
